The last decade has seen a burgeoning interest in new ways for human beings to communicate, achieve common goals, and find creative solutions to difficult problems. As documented in What Is Enlightenment? magazine's spring 2004 issue: "Call it collective consciousness, team synergy, co-intelligence, or group mind—a growing number of people are discovering…that when individuals come together with a shared intention, in a conducive environment, something mysterious can come into being, with capacities and intelligences that far transcend those of the individuals involved."
What enables these seemingly miraculous collective capacities to emerge? And how can individuals and organizations consistently sustain and develop their ability to meet in a field of higher consciousness and creativity?
Andrew Cohen, spiritual teacher and founder of What Is Enlightenment? magazine, has dedicated significant time and energy finding answers to these complex questions. Through his exploration, he has pioneered a new form of collective inquiry and dialogue called "Enlightened Communication." Field-tested and continually evolving for over seven years, Enlightened Communication has proven a powerful vehicle for enabling individuals to meet in a space of higher consciousness and creativity. Indeed, participants consistently report that through the experience of Enlightened Communication discussion groups, they discover new, previously unforeseen potentials for what's possible between human beings.

In their discussion they explored potentials for creating deeper shared values and more enlightened cultural patterns to take us beyond materialism. Throughout the evening they sparked off each other and evoked in the audience an interest in how to explore and expand our worldview. Rupert Sheldrake brought the depth of his scientific understanding, infused with his awe and wonder at the nature of the cosmos, while Andrew transmitted the evolutionary nature of his teaching, emphasising the need for a rational spirituality and passionately calling us to take personal responsibility for the future we are creating.

Biologist Rupert Sheldrake has made a career out of gathering scientific data on precisely those aspects of the nature of mind that the mainstream scientific community derides or simply ignores. Is telepathy real? Do animals possess consciousness? Are we enveloped by a vast "morphic" field in which we communicate with each other instantaneously over vast distances? Sheldrake is dedicated to exploring unusual theories, and as a serious scientist, he is endeavoring to collect the data to prove them.
